Popping the Question

This year on Christmas Eve I got a very exciting Christmas present. I got engaged! The proposal was perfect, just us, in a beautiful setting and a complete surprise. This got me thinking about how to pop the question to some very special people in my life. I knew who my bridesmaids would be right away, and I couldn’t wait to ask them. However, I wanted them to really feel how much I value them and start their “bridesmaiding” off with something fun.

Although my idea isn’t exactly original, (little is when it comes to Pinterest weddings these days) I wanted it to feel personal and reflect the aesthetic of my wedding. I decided to go with bridesmaid proposal boxes, since who doesn’t love opening a surprise gift? I wanted to stay away from the cutesy look of some proposal boxes and go with a more natural but tasteful look. Using some fresh florals, dusty blue ribbon and cream fabric I think I was able to create something that felt handmade but still elegant.

Next came time to fill the boxes with lots of little goodies. I went with items that I would be thrilled to receive; a soft sleep-mask, scented candle, mini face mask, locally made soap, mini nail files, and of course some bubbles! I stuffed the boxes with some natural crinkle and then set the items inside, finishing the pink champagne bottles off with some ribbon and paper straws. Each bridesmaid got a personalized card – not pictured because some things need to remain secret!

Getting to surprise each bridesmaid with their box and watching their faces light up when I asked them to be in my wedding was so much fun. Any creative ideas for asking your friends to be in your wedding? How would you want to be asked? I would love to know.
